More about David Scott MacHardy

David enlisted in the City of Dundee Engineers a month before the outbreak of war and he initially served at the front with that unit. He returned and obtained a commission in the Highland Light Infantry and was Gazetted 20th January, 1916, leaving for the front in June 1916, aged 20. His elder brother served in the Mechanical Transport. David’s father died two months before him.
