A School medalist, James McKinnon was a member of St Andrews OTC when he received his commission in the Middlesex Regiment. In civil life Mr McKinnon had just complete a course of training for the ministry of the established Church of Scotland.

DUNDEE DIVINITY STUDENT KILLED.
Lieut. James B. McKinnon, Middlesex Regiment, who was killed in action, was the third son of Mr Donald McKinnon, egg merchant, Dundee, and Hillock House, Kingennie.
Deceased was a divinity student at St Andrews University, and joined the army shortly after obtaining his B.D. degree. He was 25 years of age.
