More about Bertie Millar

Bertie has no known grave but is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial.

Police Constable Andrew Millar and Mrs Millar, 6 North George Street, Dundee, have been informed of the death, in action of their son, Lance-Corporal B. Millar, King’s Lancaster Regiment.  Prior to joining up in 1916 Lance-Corporal Millar was in the employment of J. B. White, Ltd., wholesale stationers, Cowgate, Dundee. A. letter from deceased’s offcer states :- “Lance-Corporal Millar, was in charge of his Lewis gun section during the German advance.  He was one of the most promising Lewis gun corporals in the battalion, and had done very good work the previous day.”
