More about William Caird Nicoll

William Nicoll    Gordons

Private William Nicoll, Gordons, was a son of Mr James Nicoll, contractor, Nicard, Long Lane, Broughty Ferry.  He was 19 years of age, and had only been a fortnight at the front.  Before enlisting he was an apprentice joiner with Suttie Bros., Broughty Ferry.  Mr Nicoll has two sons still serving.  One left for the army when the news of William’s death arrived.

Dundee Courier 6th May 1918

William was a former pupil of Grove Academy, Broughty Ferry and is remembered on the schools war memorial.
