John M. Sampson   34975   Royal Scots

Private John Sampson, Royal Scots, son of Mr Sampson, Happyhillock, Midmill, was killed on 3rd August while on active service in the Balkans.  Deceased enlisted in 1917 in the R.A.M.C., and after being a year in Malta was transferred to the Royal Scots.  He then went to Salonika, where he had been for two years.  Private Sampson was 22 years of age, and was employed with Cargill & Co., Limited, Dundee Bleach Works, before he enlisted.  His younger brother, James, is with the Gordons in France.
