Skene Smith 950 Royal Engineers
ANOTHER KIRRIEMUIR SOLDIER KILLED.
News has reached Kirriemuir of the death at the front of another young native in Sapper Skene Smith, 2/2d Highland Field Company, Royal Engineers.
He had been engaged repairing the parapet of a trench, and while in the act of driving in a stake was shot in the head. Sapper Smith, who was the eldest son of Mr Alexander Smith, formerly fireman in the Gairie Linen Works, and now resident in Lochee, was twenty-three years of age. He served his time in the printing trade in the office of Mr W. B. Mills, Kirriemuir, and was afterwards employed for a time in printing establishments in Dundee and Aberdeen. He enlisted in January last, and proceeded to the front in April.
