James has no known grave but is remembered on the Loos Memorial. He was the brother of Pte Andrew Watson Swan, 8489, 1st Battalion Cameron Highlanders, who was killed in action 14.09.1914 and L/Cpl Thomas Swan, 3/3854, 2nd Battalion Black Watch, who died of wounds, 21.01.1916.
