More about Thomas Davie

For reasons unknown this man is not listed on the original Dundee Roll of Honour, but is remembered on the Strathmartine Roll of Honour.

Tom Davie   15968   Scots Guards

DUNDEE EX-POLICEMAN KILLED.

Private Tom Davie, Scots Guards, an ex-member of the Dundee Police Force, has been killed in action.

Private Davie, who was the third son of Mr and Mrs Davie, South Auchray, near Dundee, was acting as company orderly on 12th October, the orderly having been killed the previous night, and he was sent down with a water party to bring up rations for his comrades, when he was killed by a shell. His officer and chaplain, in letters to his parents, pay a tribute to his brave and fearless manner as well as his cheerful demeanour and willingness to undertake whatever duties came his way, however difficult or dangerous they were.  Deceased was a member of Dundee Police Force for some time, but prior to enlisting was engaged as a farm servant in the Downfield district.  He was 28 years of age.
