He was the brother of Pte Peter Thores, 15861, 1st Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers, who was killed in action 13.11.1916 and the son of Deckhand Alexander Thores, H.M.S. Crescent.

Alexander’s Soldiers Will stated that his estate should go to his cousin, Miss Susan Wemyss, 100 Middlegate St, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, his medals were also sent to the same address.

There is a reference to Alexander in the Dundee, Peoples Journal, War Memorial Supplement, issued 16 May 1925 and available in Dundee Central Library.
