EXPERIENCED SOLDIER KILLED.

Mrs W. L. Walker, 243 Blackness Road, Dundee, has received official intimation of the death in action at the Dardanelles on 27th May of her husband, Private Walter L. Walker, 5th Royal Scots.

Private Walker was 36 years of age, and previous to enlisting was employed in Messrs Nobel’s explosives factory at Polmont.  He enlisted in the 5th Royal Scots in November last, and went to the front in March.

The deceased private was an experienced soldier, having served through the Boer war with Lord Fincastle’s Horse.  He held medals for the South African campaign.  Private Walker is survived by his widow and three children.
