No-Conscription Fellowship
While John’s brother Charlie underwent basic army training, in contrast John worked with a host of Dundee war resisters in the ILP and the British Socialist Party. This was national movement but Labour leader J. Bruce Glasier asserted that ‘Anti-War feeling in Scotland was much more energetic and aggressive than in English Branches’ of the ILP by January 1915.
